About Us

The Community Bike Shop 916 (CBS) provides a low-cost source for bicycle equipment and repair in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento.

Our mission is to get more people cycling by providing affordable used bicycles, equipment, and repair services. Customers also soon have the option to learn how to fix their own bikes through our future DIY stations.

CBS and SABA have resources and information about cycling events in the Sacramento region.

If you are interested in working or volunteering with SABA as a mechanic, on the second Wednesday of each month, SABA holds an orientation to SABA and Ride Ready Repair. Let’s ride!

Who We Are

Values

We value inclusivity, respect the diversity and dignity of our beneficiaries, and strive to meet their specific needs and preferences. We offer the chance to learn, grow, connect, and work with fellow cycling enthusiasts. And because we’re a non-profit, we offer these services and workshops at lower costs or even for free regardless of who you are and where you’ve come from. The Community Bike Shop is a designated SAFE SPACE.

Education

CBS contributes to community empowerment through education, skill-building, and networking. We believe that knowledge is power, and by teaching our customers how to maintain and repair their bikes, we’re not just fixing bicycles; we’re creating a future workforce while building a community of confident, self-reliant cyclists. Check back soon to see when we will be offering bike mechanic skills classes and clinics.

Taylor Magee was born in San Jose California and grew up in the mountains of Santa Cruz California. His first bicycle was a chrome Dyno BMX style bike. During high school Taylor converted a road bike into a single speed fixed gear and fell in love with the simplicity and physical rhythm of fixed gear bicycles. As an adult, he has expanded the scope of his preferred style of riding and wants to begin experimenting with different types and styles of riding.
